School Climate SurveyDear Parent/Family Member:

As we strive to ensure that all schools provide a safe and healthy learning environment for our students, we want to learn more about your experiences as a parent or caretaker of a student in the Rondout Valley Central School District.

We send this letter as an invitation to participate in the School Climate Survey for Parents.  The survey includes questions about your child’s learning, school safety, and interpersonal relationships, as well as your perceptions of the school environment and your personal involvement in school.  Your feedback will be very helpful in improving student engagement, learning conditions, and the overall school environment.

Beginning on January 2nd, we invite all parents, guardians, and caretakers to complete the School Climate Survey for Parents.  As you respond to each survey item, please think about your own personal experiences as a parent, caregiver, or guardian at your child’s school. By participating in the survey, you will provide valuable insights that we can use to improve the climate and culture of our schools. Each school will use the survey results to develop strategies, procedures, and/or programs to enhance our school climate.

If you have children at multiple schools, you may complete a survey for each school, or you may choose the school where you would most like to share your voice. The directions and your username for the survey are being sent home in the mail.  Please complete your survey response by January 24th.

Survey for students in grades 5-12:
The student survey will be administered to students during regular school hours until January 24th. It will ask students about their perceptions on topics such as student engagement, school environment, and school safety. The data your child provides may also be used by the school district to better understand the current climate in the school. Your child’s answers will be combined with the answers of other students in their school and the district and used to create records about the climate of the school. These reports will not identify any person or the responses.
If you have any questions about the survey, about your child’s participation, or would like to see a copy of the student survey, please contact your child’s building principal.

Thank you for your time, we hope you will support our effort to ensure a safe and supportive learning environment for all students.
