At Rondout Valley CSD, we are committed to ensuring the safest possible learning environment for our students and staff during these challenging times. To that end, we implemented a wide range of precautionary measures, including the use of a health screening app that students and staff fill out regularly before coming to school, temperature checks of everyone entering our buildings, mandated mask wearing as medically able, social distancing, hand washing, and rigorous cleaning and disinfecting protocols.

Although everyone is working hard to maintain a safe and healthy environment, illness is still possible. Currently, we have a student at Marbletown Elementary School that developed symptoms that may be associated with COVID-19. Whenever an individual is exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19, we notify the Ulster County Department of Health.  We are closely following the Department’s rigorous and extensive guidelines to help ensure the safe operation of our schools. The 48-hour window has passed, and we are waiting for the negative COVID-19 test, or doctor’s note clearing them to return to school, per UCDOH guidelines.
Due to staffing resources, we have made the decision to have this one classroom meet remotely. The decision to return to remote learning for this one classroom was not made lightly.
In collaborating with the Ulster County Department of Health, they recommended that no further action was necessary for other students in the class, but they recommended that all, including parents and caregivers of students should monitor those who were in attendance for symptoms which according to the latest CDC guidance may include fever, chills, cough, shortness of breath, difficulty breathing, fatigue, muscle or body aches, headache, new loss of taste or smell sore throat, congestion, runny nose, nausea or vomiting, or diarrhea.  You should also feel free to contact your personal care physician for their advice and counsel as well.

Please be assured that we are doing everything we can to keep all our students and staff members safe in these challenging times.  We know that we can count on you and your child to help us in our efforts.  We will keep you informed of any further developments as they occur.
