Dear Families and Guardians:

We hope this finds you all well and that you have had the opportunity to enjoy some rest and relaxation this summer. As we begin the school year in the remote only model we wanted to share with families what Fully Remote Learning will look like for students whose families have chosen to stay fully remote when we transition back to school in the Hybrid Learning Model.

The district will be transitioning to the Hybrid Instructional model on Monday, 10/5/2020. When the district is using the Hybrid Instructional model, parents/guardians may choose to have their child(ren) participate in a Fully Remote Learning 100% Off Site experience. Any family or guardian who would prefer the Fully Remote 100% Off Site learning model, including children with health conditions, please complete the request form by September 18, 2020.

Please understand that by choosing to have your child in fully remote learning, your child will participate in a remote-only learning experience from 10/5/2020 through the end of the first quarter.  At that time, you will have the option to continue with remote learning or return to school with in-person Hybrid instruction. Your child’s instructional learning will be standards based and grading of work will all be based on a remote learning format for the first quarter. Fully remote will include both synchronous (live scheduled sessions) and asynchronous (to be viewed at their own pace) instruction.  Google Classroom will be used for the posting of assignments along with Zoom live instruction sessions.

If you decide that you would like your child to transition back into the hybrid model, the school building will need to know two weeks in advance.

Fully Remote/Distance Learning 100% off site model for students who remain home during the Hybrid in-person instructional model [RVCSD Re-opening Plan 2020-21 page 97]

When the district is using the Hybrid instructional model, parents/guardians may choose to have their child(ren) participate in a Fully Remote/Distance Learning 100% off-site experience. Their instructional learning and grading of work will all be based on a 100% remote learning format.

  • Grades K-5:
    • Teachers will livestream through Zoom when providing new instruction so that students who are learning remotely will have the same experience as those students learning in-person. Teachers will record lessons for students who are unable to participate in the live lesson due to work or daycare situations. The recorded lessons will only be provided to students unable to participate due to parental work or daycare situations. Parents must request the recorded lesson from their child’s teacher.
    • Teachers will provide the students who are learning remotely with the times of the day that livestreaming through Zoom will take place.
  • Grades 6-12:
  • Teachers will livestream through Zoom and record each lesson they teach. For students who are unable to participate in the live lesson the recorded lesson will be made available to the student upon parental request.
  • Teachers will provide students who are learning remotely with the period of the day that they will be livestreaming their lesson(s).
  • Recorded lessons will only be made available upon parental request due to a student’s unavailability during the livestreaming of the lesson.
  • Teachers will prepare materials to assign students who are learning remotely. Any work that is being provided to in-person students to be completed at home (during remote days) will also be provided to the students who are on 100% remote.
  • Students who are learning 100% remotely will participate with all students on Fridays.
  • Students who are learning remotely will have access to teachers and teachers will post their availability.
